Just spent the last 8 hours on the video. It's 11 minutes long! Should be uploaded in a couple of hours. I have to say, I'm very happy with how this video turned out; there's lots of action and some good helmet cams. Thanks to dollarek, adamlfs, brood and NickA who provided me with the helmet footage.
EDIT: I reckon the video won't be uploaded until tomorrow because the rendering is going to take around 2 hours, and the uploading itself will probably take a couple more. Good things come to those who wait.
On the subject of driving standards, there was a lot more bumping and ambitious overtaking this year. The video proves it, as does my first-hand experience. I got a tad annoyed while I was driving the slow kart; people had so much more speed than me, and yet still bumped me every time they lapped me! But, that's life. Overall it was still an exciting day's karting.
Thanks guys for the info. Chromed Bird seems to be pretty ideal since it's a nice subtle icon that actually provides a lot of information when clicked on. It seems to be almost what I'm after.
If there's a way to make it so I don't have to visit more websites than I have to, then I want it! I like to have a bunch of stuff on Facebook. I follow a tonne of websites that way; the content comes to me rather than me having to find it.
Of course, I use RSS feeds as well but twitter ain't exactly ideal for that.
Ah, and thanks mr x! I didn't really think about browser add-ons. I'm using Chrome, but maybe there's a similar addon for it. But if anyone finds a Facebook one, let me know.
I've been Googling for about ten minutes but can't find what I'm looking for, so I wonder if you guys can help...
I'm looking for a Facebook app that posts other people's tweets onto my newsfeed. So much jargon, here's it simplified: I want the tweets from the people I'm following to be available to me on Facebook without having to visit twitter.com. Does anybody know of any apps that do this?
And people still get impatient when they wait ~ 1 minute for a league race to start. "Can we race yet =\" "ready up?" "admins..." Imagine that ridiculous attitude flowing into H2H events. I'd flip-out if people started doing that. And that is what the system avoids!
But this event isn't being run in the same way; I imagine it's a winner/loser ladder system which will make it quicker than what we used to do, so what I just wrote isn't a criticism of this event.
If you want an event that takes less than 2 hours, it is! In the very beginnings, Tim was working through documents and bits of paper. The system puts drivers together in terms of time, not by a pre-set winner/loser ladder. So it did take quite a while to order all of the races, which led to some long events in the beginning.
Just on this point: The H2H system needs someone to look after it for an event; and the only person fully-trained to do this is Tim himself, as he created it. Me and de Souza have a pretty good idea on how it works, but Tim provides that extra buffer in case something goes wrong. As it was, we got through every event in the last season without a event-ending technical hitch thanks to advancements in the way the system backed itself up. But still, when things go wrong, you need someone to fix them!
For me, he is one of the best at handing the media on the grid. He's friendly and honest. Then again, because he's not driving for a corporate giant, I guess he isn't having his strings pulled so much. But he seems to be a genuinely very nice guy.
In terms of driving, Kobayashi impressed me of late, and is hugely exciting to watch. If he continues in this vein, I think he will attract a lot more attention.
Just a little progress update goes a long way. To be honest, I was getting a little antsy. I do check for new Scawen posts most days on my daily trawl through my favourite websites, and always get that little sinking feeling when I see that 3rd of June post. Happy to see some more news, just to let us know what's up.
Sometimes when I have downloads going on, but also want to stream video or something similar, I want to be able to organise my bandwidth so I can choose what program can use a particular amount of bandwidth. Is there such a program that does this? I'm not sure what such a program would be called so can't really search it on Google. Any help would be appreciated.
